MOSCOW, August 25, 2026 —Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured India that Moscow will continue supporting the country with energy and fertiliser supplies amid disruptions linked to the ongoing West Asia crisis.
Putin made the assurance during a meeting with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Moscow on Monday. He said Russia was increasing fertiliser supplies to India and was prepared to expand them further to support Indian farmers and the agricultural sector.
The talks also covered energy, nuclear cooperation, advanced technology and growing bilateral trade. Jaishankar highlighted the significant expansion of India-Russia economic ties while also pointing to the widening trade imbalance between the two countries.
The meeting comes ahead of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, where Jaishankar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi hopes to welcome Putin in September.
