A Russian drone struck a Ukrainian passenger train near Yahodyn, just two kilometres from the Polish border, shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and other European officials had passed through the area.
Ukraine’s railway operator said the diplomatic train had left earlier than scheduled after a drone warning. The following train was evacuated before its locomotive was hit, and no casualties were reported. Ukrainian officials said the incident could represent a serious escalation so close to NATO territory, although Russia said it was targeting infrastructure linked to military cargo.
