Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are moving to strengthen a new trilateral defence framework as security tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
The three countries signed the **Mecca Joint Defence Agreement** in August, establishing a mutual-security arrangement under which an armed attack against one member is treated as an attack against all three. The agreement also calls for greater military cooperation, intelligence sharing, defence-industry coordination and logistical support.
The alliance has gained renewed importance following recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia. Turkey has already been providing defensive and technical assistance, while the three countries have discussed measures for the rapid deployment of agreed military capabilities to Saudi Arabia.
Turkey has now submitted the agreement to its parliament for ratification, marking a significant step toward formally implementing the pact. Turkish officials have described the arrangement as defensive and aimed at strengthening regional stability rather than targeting another country.
The emerging partnership brings together three strategically important states and could reshape regional security cooperation as tensions across the Middle East continue to intensify.
