China is continuing to strengthen its infrastructure around Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh, raising fresh strategic concerns for India along the Line of Actual Control.

Chinese infrastructure development in the area includes roads, military facilities and major bridge connectivity across the lake. Satellite imagery and independent assessments have indicated that these projects can improve the movement of Chinese troops, vehicles and supplies across the difficult high-altitude terrain.

The construction is taking place in territory controlled by China but claimed by India, making the buildup particularly sensitive. A major bridge across Pangong Tso has already improved connectivity between the northern and southern sides of the lake, reducing the distance and time required for military movement.

The developments come despite efforts by India and China to reduce tensions following the military standoff that began in 2020. Beijing's broader infrastructure push across Tibet and areas close to India's northern frontier continues to strengthen its logistical capacity along the border.

India, meanwhile, is also accelerating strategic infrastructure projects in Ladakh to improve connectivity and military mobility in the region.
